Expansion.

A couple weeks ago, a hiphop dance from last term's concert performed at The New England Collegiate Dance Collaboration, a dance show hosted by Boston University's The Edge. Last night, a couple girls from DanceTroupe performed a jazz trio from last semester's DT concert at International Flava, a music/food/dance party hosted by MIT Casino Rueda. One of DT's tap pieces for this term will be performing at Hooked On Tap, a dance event hosted by Brandeis University's Tap Dance Ensemble.
I am so happy to see DT dancers spreading out into the Boston dance world. About ten of us DT people recently formed a group that will represent DT outside of MIT by performing at events hosted by other schools. It's taking up more time than I thought it would right now, but once we stop learning new choreography and settle into practicing (and practicing and practicing), it should calm down a little. I'm learning choreography at breakneck speed, surrounded by dancers who are driven and dedicated to perfection. It's so wonderful to work with people who will stop at nothing to make sure that they (and you) are perfect, and they do so without any sense of superiority or competition. In this group, the spirit of community is incredible. Everyone is so supportive of every choreographer and every dancer. It's amazing just to be in rehearsal and watch how everyone works together.
It will be an incredible experience, unlike any other in my life.
