October 18, 2005In the weeks (months, sometimes) before my brother's birthday, we have a "gift" conversation that, thought it may vary in the exact words, always goes a little something like this:me: So, what do you want for your birthday? he: Well, I was thinking about [insert list of things such as the first season of Gargoyles on DVD, the Rocky movies, this hoodie, that tshirt...] me: Cool. he: You're not getting any of those for me, are you. me: Nope. You see, I always have a plan, a secret plan that starts out like a little snowball and picks up various sticks and stones and other weird things as it rolls down the hill and becomes a medium sized snowball full of odd stuff that my brother will love. Rarely is there a pattern, but there is always a reason for each gift. And, yes, he does absolutely adore each and every present. *** To my bro: 18 is going to be a crazy year, I know you can already feel it. So many people have your back. We love you, and we're here for you, whether you're pissed off about your Intro to Engineering professor or you just had a really good night out with Divyang the best roomie ever. Hope you had a great time on your real birth day, and I can't wait to celebrate on your fake birth day. For all its ups and downs, 18 will be monumental. |
