Another Day
March 12, 2006
Today, the sky was the perfect grey for a quiet walk around the lake, the kind where you take a small paperback book and stop along the way to sit on a bench and read in solitude, think about big things and small. It was the perfect day to take a short drive and bring someone flowers. The kind I like are hybrids, some combination of yellow and red and orange. I would have picked the perfect moment, nostalgia, or maybe belle epoque.
I'll save those for another day.
Luckily, the real today turned out beautifully. I chatted with mom as we sat in our sweatpants in the family room, another Alain Delon movie on the screen. I thought about upcoming plans and inspected my closet, happy with recent purchases but mindful of missing pieces. I watched an episode of Grey's Anatomy, touching and thought-provoking as always. I talked long and deeply with three friends who are far away.
Not too bad for a Plan B...
