July 18, 2006My summer days have been a dream.I took my first dance class in over a year, met a legendary hip-hop emcee, and ate at Sugar Cane in Brooklyn. I petted a horse, planted some grass, and got sucked into a sci fi book series. I drove back from the beach with my brother and killed a monstrous bug with many legs all by myself. I picked out a color for my new room. I visited my grandparents and went on long walks outside. I thought about what life would be like as a wombat, and I talked with a friend about what life is like without a God. I was stung by a wasp, found the carcass of a horseshoe crab, and bought the best shirt that doubles as a dress in the world. I've been reconnecting with Project Runway and Animal Planet. I've been listening to the BSO perform and marveling at fireworks. I've been spending time with my brother. I've been swimming. I've been drowning in Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki movies. And I've been following So You Think You Can Dance like it's my job, or my dream. I've been loving summer, and I hope you have, too. You must understand the whole of life, not just one little part of it. That is why you must read, that is why you must look at the skies, that is why you must sing, and dance, and write poems, and suffer, and understand, for all that is life. ~Jiddu Krishnamurti |
