We've been waiting (and working) for these purple hoods for three years! The ensemble is too wonderful to hide away in the basement forever, so my options are either to become a professor (enabling me to wear it at graduation ceremonies) or to throw an annual party on May 16 where the mandatory dress code is Academic Regalia. In the short term, party it is!
At the second ceremony, the campus-wide commencement, guest speaker Dr. Francis Collins sang a version of I Did It My Way tailored to the trials and tribulations of graduate school students.
I learned so many things, Although I know I'll never use them. The courses that I took Were all required, I didn't choose them.
You'll find that to survive, It's best to play the doctrinaire way, And so, I knuckled down, And did it their way!
Well, yes, there were times I wondered why I had to cringe when I could fly. I had my doubts, but after all I clipped my wings and learned to crawl. I learned to bend, and in the end I did it their way!
