Lines.
November 1, 2004
To celebrate the many lines that many Americans will stand in tomorrow before casting their votes, a short true story:
Back in the day, 1963 to be exact, my father was a little boy of 11. In the winter of that year, white flour had disappeared from the market, leaving the people of Odessa without white bread. Somewhere in Odessa, small rations of macaroni were being given out. Due to the great demand for products made from white flour, the lines were OC. The young David stood in line for 2 hours, waiting for his portion of macaroni. As he neared the front, it was announced that macaroni would not be given out to children.
Here's to lines!
