January 17, 2005Last night, Mr. Jack and I went over to Zia's new place to celebrate her birthday. Happy Birthday! Amanda and Jason were at the party, as was Giovanni. I thought (incorrectly) that it was the first time since I had seen Amanda since she got married, and I was just about to write Amanda and Jason *insert Jason's last name here* when I realized I don't know Jason's last name, haha. Amanda, help me out!!We were talking about economics classes at MIT, and Amanda reminded me that I wanted to buy an econ book instead of taking 14.01/14.02 (the two intro econ classes at MIT). I'll take a walk round the Harvard Coop this week and see if I can find any of the books I found on Amazon: -Basic Economics: A Citizens Guide to the Economy by Thomas Sowell -Applied Economics: Thinking Beyond Stage One by Thomas Sowell -Economics in One Lesson: The Shortest and Surest Way to Understand Basic Economics by Henry Hazlitt -Naked Economics: Undressing the Dismal Science by Charles Wheelan -Sex, Drugs and Economics: An Unconventional Intro to Economics by Diane Coyle Amanda also told me about a website, Precision Counter, where you can get a super counter that not only keeps track of the number of visits to your site but lots of info about the visitors. Good deal :) During the evening, I also realized that I had failed to give blog-credit on two occasions: 1.During the laptop debacle, it was Mr. Jack who figured out that the adapter was ill, not the laptop. New adapter on the way! 2. Amanda's post about the American Dialect Society sparked my post about the ADS Words of the Year. Apologies all around! |
