September 26, 2005I'm in the middle of Before Night Falls, a movie I rented only because I saw Javier Bardem's name on the cast list. As in Mar adentro (The Sea Inside), Bardem appears by the water in many scenes. Watching Bardem by the sea is satisfying and perfect for me. Something about him just fits with the natural beauty of sand and blue water. I don't know if I would describe him sexy or attractive or striking. He is a handsome man with symmetrical features, but for me his appeal is this strong inner glow like a slow burning. Try these out: one two three four. What do you think?Great cast: -Johnny Depp(!!) plays both a Cuban military officer and a transvestite who visits the jail where Bardem's character is being held -Najwa Nimri was Lorenzo's island lover in the first scene of Lucía y el sexo (Sex and Lucia) -Olivier Martinez was the lover of Diane Lane's character in Unfaithful -Diego Luna was one of the main characters in Y tu mamá también The soundtrack is fantastic. More movies to see soon: Junebug Corpse Bride March of the Penguins Flightplan Broken Flowers Roll Bounce(!!) Unrelated, but also good: There are two kinds of light--the glow that illuminates, and the glare that obscures. |
