June 11, 2004MTV Movie Awards was mostly awful. Some complaints, since whining to Slav wasn't enough.Complaint 1: Awful Pre-Show hosts. Paris Hilton? As George would say, come on missus... Complaint 2: Lack of nudity. Where was 2004's answer to Lil Kim's off-the-boobie creation? The most revealing moment of the show had Eminem showing his bright white tuckus to the crowd -- and that was censored out. (Although I do have to thank the producers for saving us from that view.) Complaint 3: Not enough funny! Remember the spoof of the Matrix finale with Will Farrell? Now that them there was some laughter inducing acting. Complaint 4: Best Dance Sequence The award went to Stifler over You Got Served. Enough said. Even the appearance of Vin couldn't salvage the night. I can only hope the after party was more fun. Highlights included: -Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn's attempt to convince Peter Jackson to make a 4th Lord of the Rings movie. There was much talk about sucking more milk out of the teat of Lord of the Rings. Oh yes. -The accent of that other Hobbit... You know, not Sam, not Frodo... The one with the crazy accent that Slav calls "yorkshire." -Commercials that ended with "MTV: Not Suitable For Adults." Highly strange things included: -The Beastie Boys have aged a whole lot. It doesn't sound, but it shows. -The horror theme that depended on computer generated clips of insane asylum patients. Maybe I shouldn't have bumped a phone conversation with a nice fellow to watch the show... ;) |
