June 11, 2005I cannot WAIT for RIZE.IMDB says says RIZE hits LA and NYC on the 24th. Fandango says that RIZE comes to the Charles Theater in Bmore on Sunday. I'll be in NYC on Sunday for a long lost relative's bar mitzvah, but you know I am going to hit that shit as soon as it gets here. IMDB says:
That dance movement is krumping. Wikipedia defines krumping as clown dancing, but the official RIZE website makes a distinction between the two. MTV says that clowning evolved into krumping. "Krumping is when you're dancing and your body is doing a lot of different moves... It's really like you're fighting on the dance floor. It's more of an intensity. It can be fast-paced, it can be a lot of moves that are really sharp." Another good article here about the general state of hiphop today:
This video opens with a lot of awesome breakdancing and moves into a small bit of krumping at the end. More krump here in the video for the Galvanize by the Chemical Brothers. |
