The Real Story.
December 14, 2004
A couple weeks ago, we were supposed to watch a movie called The Official Story for Spanish class, but I never got around to it. Today I have a test in that class, and the movie will be on the test. After Spanish class yesterday, my teacher check out the movie from a Harvard library and let me borrow it. Since I was working at desk in my dorm today 10am-2pm, I figured I'd have plenty of time to watch it. So you can imagine how wonderful it was to hear that twisting tape noise when I pressed PLAY. In the end, the tape is just fine, if a bit crinkly, and I can proudly say that I opened up a VCR for the first time in my life.
Instead of watching the video, I found some summaries online. From one:
"To a bourgeois and protected Alicia these actions are incomprehensible. However, caught between her students and Ana, Alicia is trapped by the pincers of truth and unable to escape."
The Pincers of Truth. Oh my. After reading several review, I realized that I saw this movie in my high school Spanish class. Good times.
